Welcome again to the beginning of a new season at 7A Resort. As I sit here, the rain is falling softly outside, a welcome sound after the last few drought years. We hope it continues to rain enough through the end of the winter and the spring to cause the Blanco River to rise just enough to provide the fun you look forward to in its sparkling waters. It is the time of year when we work around cold and rain to repair and renovate cabins. Many of the infrastructure repairs are never seen, but notice the change in the Dodge House. We think you will be pleasantly surprised. Each weekend brings a wedding or party with church groups and family reunions enjoying the quiet of the off-season. We have enjoyed birthday parties and wedding receptions, anniversary parties and baby showers as well as our children’s birthday parties. Next week, Feb. 7, brings the annual Mardi Gras celebration with zydeco bands and a gumbo cook-off. A good time is always had by all at Mardi Gras. See our Facebook page for more info. If you don’t have your spring, summer, and fall cabin and lodge reservations locked in, act quickly to get just what you want. We work as hard as possible to make that possible. Even these winter weekends can be fun. The town of Wimberley seems to be overflowing each and every weekend. We will be welcoming new staff and introducing them to you soon. They will definitely add to our family.
The lights are on and Wimberley is waiting,
This Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at 7 PM will be the airing of the movie Deliverance Creek, filmed at Pioneer Town in December 2013. We are having a screening party at the Ponderosa Lodge beginning at 6 PM. If you are in the area, bring a snack and join us. If you were an extra or just a fan of Pioneer Town, it will be fun to see yourself or "your place" in the movie!!
Last Market Days of 2014--Oct. 4, Nov.1, and Dec. 6
Sorry I have been away for a while, but here we are again at the end of another season. It has been a busy and crazy summer. We always look forward to the slower pace of the fall, and, hopefully, to rain and cooler temperatures. No measurable rain yet in August and September. A little flood on the river wouldn't hurt either.
Family reunions, weddings, parties (including our very own screening party) abound.
We have some staff changes and are welcoming Sandy as our Weekday Office Manager, Colette as the new Week-end Secretary and Kathy as our new Head of Housekeeping. Kevin continues to calmly and pleasantly deal with all of our maintenance needs. Our summer Pioneer Town and Housekeeping help are fewer now, but still extremely necessary. Of course, Dick, Johnny, and Trish continue as managers.
Gene and Joanne have come out of retirement to redecorate Pioneer Town. See photos.
We look forward to your off season visits as family reunions and individual families. Come and enjoy the Fall.
Opera House chairs are still available. These chairs are more than 100 years old and originally came with the Pioneer Town Opera House from Waco. You may buy any number to remember the old days in the Opera House when you dance the night away in the big new dance floor area provided by flex seating.
